Hello and welcome to the East London quarter of MyVillage! As Editor I intend to promote the East End's best pubs, clubs, restaurants and events as well as highlight key events and must-see gigs in the area.
My monthly blog will aim to inform you of what's hot and what's not plus, as ever, there will be plenty of banter in the forums.
There is no denying that East London is on the up. Traditionally home to working class cockney's, high crime rates and poverty it's now a cultural hub with socialites, artists, musicians and media types lining the streets.
From the City to Stratford, Dalston to Docklands or Hackney to Hoxton - lets celebrate the East!

The Drunken Monkey has morphed in to a Chinese food eating/drinking/relaxing bar-cum-restaurant for the masses. It all works rather well although I preferred it when the focus was on the plonk.
Still, the food is pretty good and the decor sleek so certainly worth a bite and a beer.

I used to spend a lot of time at the Picturehouse. A fine cinema, tidy and friendly and not so pricey as places in the centre of London. Recommended.
East Wintergarden, designed by Cesar Pelli and based on the Wintergardens in New York, is an impressive 27m-high glass atrium which holds public and private events all year round.
It might not have the same historic or shabby charm as the venues in nearby areas but the stunning visuals, views and lighting more than make up for it.
Order a bottle of fine wine and celebrate in style.
