Banglatown Curry Festival - September 7 - 21 2002

Celebrated chefs from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan who have cooked for the rich, famous and Royalty, will be coming to London's Banglatown at the beginning of September to create a special 'Festive Menu' of unique curry tastes and authentic ingredients, to bring the second annual Banglatown Curry Festival to spicy, exotic life.

The Brick Lane and Hanbury Street area in London's E1 is the heart of the Bangladeshi community and is renowned for its colourful and bustling shops, market stores, cafes, restaurants and of course, the very best in curry!

But there is no better time to come for a curry than during the Banglatown International Curry Festival, which will run for two weeks, opening on Saturday 7th September with a special Curry Fair.

During the Curry Fair, restaurants will be open all day to serve their finest authentic regional dishes and the unique Festive Menu, introduced and trained by the celebrated chefs.

Owners will also create food courts in front of their restaurants so customers can enjoy their meals in the open air and soak up the festive atmosphere. Banglatown offers a variety of settings including small cafes, traditional restaurants and contemporary eateries.

Food is cooked with only the finest ingredients, flown in freshly each day, including exotic fruits, oriental spices and pulses. Throughout the Curry Festival, the celebrated chefs will visit the participating restaurants, to cook local specialities and traditional regional dishes.

Last year's inaugural event proved to be a huge hit across the capital with hundreds of people, including a host of celebrities, turning up to sample the distinctive meals on offer.

The Curry Festival coincides with the Brick Lane Festival, which takes place on Sunday 8th September, when the bustling streets of Banglatown will become even more colourful and atmospheric with the locals celebration of music, dance, processions and street entertainment.
